Normal weekly
backyard and curbside pick-ups... City crews pick up
non-recyclable refuse from backyards and treelawns, but it
must be wrapped (or in a closed bag) and kept in a refuse
container or can that's waterproof, with handles and a
secure lid. Containers should not exceed 32-gallon
capacity or weigh more than 50 pounds when filled.
Safe, clear access to your
garbage cans is appreciated by refuse employees who work
hard to provide this vanishing backyard pick-up service,
so please don't make their job harder or more dangerous.
And, remember to keep "Fido" inside or leashed
on the morning of your regular weekly refuse collection.
If you prefer to muscle your
garbage cans to the curb instead, be sure to have them on
your tree lawn by 6:30 a.m. on your scheduled collection
day, but never before 6:00 p.m. the evening before.
Or you can drop it off...
Between weekly pick-ups, Lakewood
residents can drop off just about anything at the Lakewood
Incinerator-Recycling Center, located at the Refuse Office
at 12920 Berea Road (across from Pat Catan's, near the
railroad tracks). Lakewood residents can discard or
recycle just about everything here, including clothing,
all paper, some types of construction debris, most
cardboard, dead car batteries, junk mail, plastic and
glass bottles, magazines, phone books and motor oil (no
service station drop-offs).
Drop-off hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.
Saturdays, 8 a.m. to Noon
Closed Sundays.
For more information,
call the Refuse Office at 252-4322. |
